JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Systems Administrator (SA)
Reports To: Information Systems & Cybersecurity Program Manager
Classification/Status: Full-time/Exempt

General Responsibilities: The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation, operation and maintenance of systems’ hardware, software and related infrastructure, including end-user systems of the organization. This individual assists employees and other end users in troubleshooting and solving common hardware and software problems. This individual participates in planning and implementing policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. The Systems administrator must be able to work under the guidance of the Information systems and Cyber Manager in a collaborative effort executing the following job essential duties and responsibilities.

  • Acts as a technical backup to the Information Systems & Cybersecurity Program Manager
  • Provides user support, as needed. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Performs account setup;
  • Installs, configures and maintains servers, computers, and networks;
  • Oversees system performance and troubleshooting issues;
  • Performs system upgrades following new releases;
  • Maintains an inventory of hardware and software for the organization and adherence to the hardware and software lifecycle policy
  • In collaboration with the supervisor, configures and manages company Intranet via SharePoint
  • Monitors and maintains network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways and intrusion detection systems; and
  • Manages following critical Security applications, such as:
  • Office 365 Administration
  • Microsoft SharePoint
  • Management of Firewall policies through collaborating with MSP and MSSP
  • OKTA Identity Management System
  • Endpoint Protection & Application Patching
  • Supervises IT project and participants, if applicable
  • Participates in Network & Telecommunication Management through our MSP
  • Participates in quality assurance activities and meets established QA deadlines
  • Any other duties assigned

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Microsoft or related other professional Certifications such as CCNA,CCNP, CompTIA A+ is preferable
  • At least 2 years’ experience working as a System Administrator
  • Strong prioritization skills are necessary: ability to set and manage priorities, and be able to work under pressure, pay keen attention to detail
  • Familiarity with a virtual infrastructure including VMware ESXi, VCenter
  • Experience working in Azure and Office 365, MS Exchange, MS Server
  • Knowledge of Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), as well as several types of servers like mail servers, file servers, etc., a plus
  • Experience in designing, implementing and managing Microsoft Active Directory
  • PowerShell scripting experience is a plus
  • Strong decision-making skills. Judgment errors can affect the organization's operational efficiency.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary. Interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people; regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues.
  • Responsibilities sometimes require working with little advanced notice
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects and see them to completion on schedule.
  • Responsibilities sometimes require you to be able to function with limited supervision.
  • Occasional travel required to other sites.
