Position Overview:
We are seeking a Systems Administrator based in Palatine, IL with extensive hands-on experience in server virtualization management and backup infrastructure. This role will focus on maintaining reliable systems for our clients, ensuring data protection, uptime, and scalability across diverse IT environments.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and support virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V), including configuration, deployment, monitoring, and performance optimization.
- Administer, monitor, and maintain enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Perform Windows Server administration, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Exchange.
- Proactively monitor server performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement preventative measures.
- Ensure compliance with security best practices, including patch management and endpoint protection.
- Support network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, VPN, and remote access technologies.
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver high-availability infrastructure solutions.
- Document systems, procedures, and changes to ensure knowledge transfer and consistency.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in systems administration, with a focus on virtualization and backup solutions.
- Strong hands-on expertise with VMware and Hyper-V hypervisors.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and managing backup and disaster recovery platforms.
- Proficiency in Windows Server OS, Active Directory, and Exchange administration.
- Knowledge of networking technologies (TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP, RDP).
- Experience with anti-malware, endpoint protection, and patch management tools.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in client-facing environments.
- Reliable transportation for travel to client sites within the Chicago suburbs.
