An IT Systems & Network Administrator position is requited to review, evaluate, and assess the school’s infrastructure, tools and compliance with safety / regulatory standards. This job requires strong analytic / problem solving skills as well as the ability to learn software that you may have not encountered before then being able to train / relay software functional information. This job involves traveling to the Catholic schools in the archdiocese to review and assist with projects like training, infostructure improvements, or repairs as well as help in acquisition of equipment or software through grants or nonprofit services. This position requires the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while interfacing with multiple people.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate Networks / Server environments and properly document
- Learn Industry standard software and be able to train others in its use
- Review/Relay best practices for networking and software
- Light assistance in situations where no onsite IT is available
- Ability to learn Grant process to assist schools / Learn non-profit programs schools have access to
- Understand technical information and relay information to non-technical people
- Coordinate with different departments on projects that could span large periods of time
- Drive to and from locations
- Documentation of information for Catholic schools’ departments as well as IT departments
Education Associates’ degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience 3–5 years of hands-on system/network administration in a mixed Windows/Cloud environment. • Proven track record managing on-prem servers, virtualized infrastructure, and network devices.
Technical Skills
- Windows Server (2016/2022) – AD DS, DNS, DHCP, GPO.
- Linux – RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu; system services & security hardening.
- Networking – routers/switches, VLANs, OSPF/BGP, VPN, firewall configuration.
Other Preferred skills
Scripting – PowerShell, Bash/Python. • Backup/recovery tools (Veeam, Acronis, Windows Server Backup).• Monitoring network activity / traffic with ability to recognize trends
