Focused Support LLC is a small software company based in Logan, UT, with additional offices in Columbia, MD and Huntsville, AL. We make software for the US Air Force and others, and are working on some cool projects that directly contribute to keeping our country safe.

We are actively looking for a systems administrator to join our team. System Administrator will maintain the underlying infrastructure and server environments while serving as the primary point for a support helpdesk to ensure customers have uninterrupted access to mission essential software to execute real-word missions, 24/7/365.

General Tasks:

  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, storage, and virtualized environments (On-prem or Cloud).
  • Execute routine maintenance and emergency patches to minimize downtime for mission-critical software.
  • Implement and manage monitoring tools to proactively identify system bottlenecks or outages.
  • Track software versions and configurations used by external customers
  • Document, track, and resolve tickets using enterprise service management tools (e.g., JIRA).
  • Clearly communicate severity and likelihood of issues identified by external customers to the engineering team
  • Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, or Python) to automate repetitive administrative tasks and deployment workflows.
  • Perform regular data backups and verify restoration procedures to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, and systems.
  • Provide technical support for internal employees, troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights within Active Directory or similar identity management systems.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for system configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and inventory tracking.
  • Work with the security team to ensure a compliant security posture for all systems.
  • Coordinate the technical setup for new hires and ensure secure data revocation for departing employees.
  • Manage the intake, tagging, and decommissioning of hardware assets to ensure accurate inventory.

Preferred

  • 3-5 years of experience in systems administration (Windows/Linux/Mac) and at least 2 years in a customer support/helpdesk role.
  • Proficiency in virtualization and Cloud environments
  • Intermediate knowledge of networking protocols and IT infrastructure
  • Technical proficiency addressing system administration and network troubleshooting
  • Security+ certification
  • The candidate must have or be able to acquire a Security+ certification
  • (Optional) Additional certifications

Education/Experience: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related academic program is required.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency with Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu), MAC, and Windows.
  • Operational experience with AWS (EC2, S3, VPC) and/or Azure cloud environments.
  • Proficiency with Proxmox, VMWare, Hyper-V, or containers.
  • Practical knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, VPNs, and firewall management.
  • Basic experience with Active Directory, Group Policy (GPO)
  • Experience with deployment and configuration tools such as RMM, MDM, Ansible, Jenkins, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Atlassian
  • Administrative familiarity with Slack, Google Workspace, and Zoom
  • Understanding of security tools like antivirus, host-based firewalls, EDR’s, and vulnerability scanners
  • Basic understanding of scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python).

Minimal travel may be required.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
