Gaylord Archival (www.gaylord.com), located in Syracuse, NY since 1896, is a leading provider of preservation and display solutions. With a strong legacy of product innovation and a commitment to excellence, we specialize in delivering unique solutions to cultural organizations such as museums, archives, and libraries. We have an exciting opportunity for an accomplished “hands-on” IT professional to lead the transformation and ongoing management of our IT team and systems.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the President, the Director of IT will lead the planning, implementation, and management of information technology (IT) network design, hardware/software deployment, help desk, licensing strategy, compliance, and security protocol. In addition, the Director of IT will join other key leaders in implementing our strategic plan for re-platforming our website, ERP, and VMware from on-premise solutions to cloud based solutions over the next 2-3 years.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leadership. The Director of IT is our in-house IT expert. The President and other department heads rely on the Director of IT to identify and mitigate IT risks, advise on best practices for a company our size, and support other departments with technology uptime and productivity improvements.
  • Supplier Management: Manage 3rd-party support for Infrastructure, Operations, and Oracle.
  • Collaboration. Co-create an IT plan in support of Gaylord Archival’s long term strategic growth plan.
  • Project Management. We plan to invest $1+M in IT over the next three years to re-platform our legacy systems to the cloud.
  • Fiscal Responsibility for an annual budget of ~$1M.

Key Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Effective management and implementation of infrastructure projects to meet business needs (VMware, Network, Database etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of ERP business systems, networks, and telecommunications equipment
  • Technical knowledge of cybersecurity with ability to identify and eliminate security risks.
  • Business requirements analysis and strategic technology planning.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service support internally and externally.

Location: Onsite is preferred, hybrid will be considered – Syracuse NY

Education and Qualification Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Management Experience: A minimum of 5 years of managing a $1+M annual budget.

Project Management: Proven success in specifying and implementing cloud-based websites and ERP systems.

Business Acumen: Solid understanding of data analysis, budgeting, and business operations.

Salary range: $130,000 to $180,000 depending on qualifications.
