Scrapbox is a Boston-based software development agency building real, production-grade software for clients across several industries, with a particular emphasis on sports technology and AI/ML. We’re hiring for a fast-growing sports tech startup in the American Football space, so candidates with football experience or genuine interest in the sport will fit naturally into the environment.

We’re looking for a senior engineer who knows how to lead, make thoughtful technical decisions, and ship consistently high-quality work. This role centers on Next.js and TypeScript, and you’ll be the most senior engineer on the team. You’ll set architectural direction, mentor others, and build a brand-new application from the ground up. The team moves quickly, values clean engineering, and expects someone who can balance speed with long-term maintainability.

Requirements / Skills

• Native English
• Willingness to work hybrid (we maintain an office in downtown Boston)
• 6+ years building scalable applications with Next.js
• 6+ years of experience with Postgres
• Strong familiarity with the Next.js App Router (Next.js 15+ ideal)
• Experience with Domain-Driven Design
• Commitment to clean, thoughtful engineering practices—from architecture to commit messages
• Proven ability to meet deadlines without sacrificing code quality
• Full-stack capability (Next.js focus)
• Ability and interest in mentoring junior engineers, reviewing PRs, and providing constructive feedback

• Former athletes (any sport)
• Former high school or college football players
• Active or knowledgeable football fans
• AWS/DevOps experience
• Supabase experience
• NestJS experience

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $80.00 - $100.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
