Job Description:

UNIX Operations team is searching for a candidate who is proficient within a LINUX (Red Hat). The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of experience in systems administration, along with knowledge of physical infrastructure and hardware such as Dell PowerEdge M/R servers. This candidate will provide LINUX support of around 400 servers. We are looking for an effective communicator and a problem-solving individual with attention to detail. Responsibility will encompass operational support of the LINUX estate, system maintenance (OS patching).

Job Requirements – Essential:

  • RHEL Linux 8/7 administration/patch management.
  • Linux Server builds and custom configurations.
  • Performance tuning of Oracle database servers.
  • Server Security vulnerability management.
  • SolarWinds monitoring.
  • Ansible tower management and upgrades.
  • VMware operational knowledge.
  • Experience on automation skills
  • Server migrations skills
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Strong skills in TCP/IP networking, network topology and firewalled environments.

Unix/Linux Systems Engineer Responsibilities:

  • System tunings to application specific requirements. Systems standardization and automation.
  • Keeping the UNIX environment compliant with the technology roadmap, such as OS & hardware upgrades, 3rd party software upgrades.
  • Work on incident tickets and resolve in a timely manner.
  • Remediate Secunia OS vulnerabilities as required by regular security audits.
  • Perform quarterly patching of RedHat to ensure systems are compliant and pass strict PCI security requirements as dictated by regular audits from security team.
  • Interface with IT and business clients at all levels of the organization.
  • Rotating on-call Unix/Linux support in a 24X7 environment.
  • Documentation of work.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems and related software
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability of Linux-based infrastructure
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement Linux-based solutions that meet business needs

  • Database administration basics.
  • Windows administration basics.
  • Cloud integration basics.
  • Veritas NetBackup management basics.
  • Understanding of applications like JBoss, WebSphere, Splunk and HP ALM.

Required Personal Skills:

  • The ability to work completely independently or with a team
  • Very detail-oriented in planning, implementing, documenting, and following up
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player attitude with experience working in a collaborative environment
  • The ability to multi-task and work across a range of projects and issues with various timelines and priorities

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or another related field. Or equivalent work experience.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
