POSITION SUMMARY:

The Software Architect is primarily responsible for supporting, updating and modifying existing software applications. They play an integral and lead catalyst role in the software deployment lifecycle. Responsibilities include but are not limited to application configuration, customization of software, testing source code, troubleshooting applications and debugging if necessary, implementing and deploying applications software.

The Software Architect is also responsible for developing new applications on occasion and working collaboratively with the organization and business units to
improve or enhance those applications. The Software Architect will work with IT and business teams to test and install code for projects, maintenance and installations/upgrades. This role is also responsible for developing technical handbooks and supporting documentation for developed code and underlying architecture. Software Architects may have to train others within IT and outside of IT on new user applications and software changes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Strategy & Governance

Application Developer

• Develops and/or implements software solutions to meet customer needs and requests.
• Works to develop business solutions that will align with company goals and strategies for improving processes and applications.
• Work collaboratively with business on requests and projects to develop solutions to

meet requirements.

• Continuously strive and demonstrate methodologies in developing high quality solutions and supporting code.
• Test and install code and applications for various efforts including and not limited to projects, production issues and maintenance.
• Continuously evaluate existing applications and determine if updates and changes are needed to improve performance and functionality.
• Support Solutions repository process and develop as applicable. Assist in developing and support effective workable framework for managing and improving customer

IT support in the organization.

• Responsible for working collaboratively with other developers and IT staff to develop new solutions and specifications.

Security & Risk Management

• Participate and support design and implementation of security defenses and practices to prevent breaches related to identity, company data, brand image, personal information, or any other information deemed to be sensitive.
• Assist the development, management, and testing of the overall disaster recovery plan, ensuring business continuity.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Key Work Experience & Competencies

• Three or more years of experience as an Application Developer or related role strongly preferred.

• Three or more years of experience working in a high availability (24X7, 99% uptime) environment.

• Experience with developing cloud applications in Microsoft Azure, AWS or Oracle Cloud Solutions strongly desired.

• Strong hands-on technical background with the ability to give instructions and collaborate with a non-technical audience.

• Working knowledge of various programming languages.

• In-depth knowledge in working with various operating system and platforms.

• Experience in software design and approaches.

• Ability to work collaboratively with other business units to make changes and updates to applications to meet business needs and requirements.

• Previous experience within a 3PL, Logistics, Transportation, Warehousing or Fulfillment industry strongly preferred.

• Must have a communicative, collaborative, transparent, and trusted approach to working with his/her staff, colleagues, upper management, and outside partners.

• Experience working with outside IT service providers.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a Customer-Service orientation and positive attitude is a MUST.

Desired Education

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent years of experience plus post-secondary technical certifications preferred.

• Certification in one or more cloud technologies strongly preferred (E.g., Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS Certified Developer, Oracle OCP/OCM/OCE)

Travel

• Less than 5% of domestic travel
