Vanguard Appraisals Inc., a Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based mass appraisal company, is seeking a Linux System Administrator for our Cedar Rapids Office. Our flagship CAMAvision® product has been developed specifically to operate in the assessor’s environment. This software is flexible, efficient, and accurate to be the system of choice by assessors. It is the only CAMA software system developed in conjunction with a Mass Appraisal Manual awarded the “Distinguished Research and Development Award” by the International Association of Assessing Officers.
The ideal candidate would have:
- Install, configure and maintain Linux systems.
- Analyze and resolve problems associated with the Linux servers, hardware, and installed applications.
- Experience in writing Shell scripts using bash, perl, and python for process automation of databases, applications, backup, and scheduling.
- Proficient in Linux administration and system planning.
- Knowledge of multiple distributions is preferred.
- Be able to apply Linux server updates and application updates and monitor application logs.
- Monitor system performance and security.
- Troubleshooting skills with network protocols such as DNS, TCP/IP, and SMTP.
- Installation of SSL certificates for websites.
- The ideal candidate should have the ability to configure and secure the following: Apache, Postfix, Postgres, SSH, Redis, and Syslog.
Extra Knowledge a Plus:
- Knowledge of Debian is a plus.
- Knowledge of SaltStack is a plus.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL is a plus.
- Knowledge of Redis is a plus.
- Knowledge of Active Directory is a plus.
- Knowledge of configuring servers/resources on Azure is a plus.
- Knowledge of MapServer or OpenLayers is a plus.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
