About the Role
Are you ready to build something from the ground up? MD Electric Group is a growing electrical contractor expanding into the defense sector — and we need our first in-house IT & Cybersecurity Manager. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll own our IT systems, drive compliance, and lead our journey to CMMC Level 2 certification.
You’ll partner with our trusted IT provider but take the reins internally, ensuring our systems and processes meet DoD requirements. If you’ve been waiting for the chance to lead, shape, and protect a company’s IT future, this is it.
What You’ll Do
IT Operations & Vendor Management
●Manage our third-party IT provider, holding them accountable to SLAs and projectgoals.
●Oversee internal systems, networks, and infrastructure — ensuring secure,standardized setups.
●Handle IT asset lifecycle (procurement, deployment, retirement).
●Coordinate user support, onboarding/offboarding, and account management.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
●
Lead our CMMC Level 2 certification effort, ensuring alignment with NIST 800-171 and DFARS.●Create policies, enforce access controls, and maintain compliance documentation.●Manage 3rd party sites and Federal communication.
Engineering & OT Support
●Support secure integration of SCADA, PLC, and industrial control systems.
●Configure firewalls, VPNs, and segmented IT/OT networks.
●Standardize and document networked panel builds for compliance.
Leadership & Training
●Develop internal SOPs and IT documentation.
●Deliver cybersecurity awareness training to all employees.
●Serve as the bridge between leadership and external IT/compliance partners.
What You’ll Bring
●Experience as an IT Manager, IT Generalist, or SysAdmin — ideally in manufacturingor industrial settings.
●Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (especially NIST 800-171).
●Experience managing IT vendors or service providers.
●Strong background in network administration (firewalls, VPNs, segmentation).
●A builder’s mindset — comfortable creating systems and processes from scratch.
●Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
●Bonus points: Experience with CMMC certification, Microsoft Azure, DoDcontractors, or OT/SCADA systems.
