Position Description

The Junior AI Engineer performs entry-level to mid-level technical work supporting the implementation, training, testing, and documentation of artificial intelligence models under senior technical supervision. This role supports defense and government programs in secure environments and operates under established procedures and design specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities AI Model Implementation

• Implement AI/ML models based on approved designs and specifications
• Train and evaluate models using structured and unstructured datasets
• Support AI models related to perception, prediction, and decision-support

Data Preparation and Management

• Preprocess, label, validate, and manage datasets under authorized access
• Maintain data quality, integrity, and traceability
• Apply data governance and anonymization practices as directed

Testing and Documentation

• Execute test cases, simulations, and validation activities
• Collect and report performance metrics
• Document model behavior, limitations, and test results

Integration and Engineering Support

• Assist with integration of AI components into simulation or system environments
• Support API development and system interfaces
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and data teams on assigned tasks

Security and Compliance

• Follow DoD security policies, ethical AI guidelines, and data handling requirements
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with clearance obligations
• Support audits, reviews, and documentation activities as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Engineering, Data Science, or related field
• 0–3 years experience in AI/ML development (academic, internship, or professional)
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience with at least one AI/ML framework (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with model training workflows and data pipelines

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework or project experience in machine learning or artificial intelligence
• Exposure to computer vision, NLP, or sensor/data fusion
• Experience working in Linux or controlled development environments
• Internship or research experience supporting technical programs

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation and adjudication in accordance with U.S. Government requirements. Positions may require work in secure facilities with limited or no remote access.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
