Job description

Seeking Store Support/IT Technician for small Grocery Store Chain with opportunity for Advancement.

The ideal candidate must:

  • Have 2 or more years of experience in the IT or related field.
  • Have strong communication and troubleshooting skills to be able to diagnose, repair and explain a variety of technology issues to end users verbally and written.
  • Have time flexibility to work early mornings and late nights (when applicable).
  • Be able to travel (preferably drive) to remote stores when needed (5 boroughs, Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk County).
  • Must be able to work independently at times as well as with a team to complete assigned tasks and projects in a timely manner.

Job Location: Hempstead, NY.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (not exclusive)

  • Responding to support inquires from stores via phone, email our ticket system.
  • Troubleshoot and repair technical issues remotely and onsite with diverse operating systems, software applications and peripherals.
  • Escalating support issues to Level 2 or third party service providers and manage life-cycle of all assigned support tickets.
  • Windows Server & Desktop Applications
  • Microsoft Office 365 and other hosted email solutions.
  • Backup software and virus removal
  • First Level setup and troubleshooting of peripheral devices, including network printers, scanners, monitors & UPS devices.
  • Support Windows Desktops in our HQ Office as well as our Stores.
  • Setup or Upgrade desktops when needed.
  • Drive/Travel to our stores if needed to troubleshoot, setup, or repair. Assist in the opening of a new stores and renovations.
  • Assist with day to day data maintenance across multiple departments such as Item File Maintenance/Support, Accounts Payable & Accounting.
  • Day-to-day network administration of servers and workstations including adding users, printers, installing applications, etc.
  • Clear verbal and written communication with stores and central office to provide technical and follow-up support related to key business applications.
  • Troubleshoot and repair network issues, including internet connection, VPN tunnels and clients, firewalls, DNS and DHCP.
  • "Self Starter Type." Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a desktop or field service role
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in customer service
  • Hands-on experience with Windows desktops
  • Excellent verbal and written client communication and customer service skills
  • Experience working with and supporting Point of Sale Systems (IBM & NCR preferred).
  • Previous experience in retail, specifically grocery, as a cashier, customer service representative, bookkeeper, point of sale is preferred but not required.
  • Strong computer literacy with the capability to learn new software quickly.
  • Proven experience in an administrative role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint)
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills to handle inquiries professionally.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

  • Are you comfortable spearheading projects? (ex: upgrades, new equipment installs, application migration, etc.)
  • The job is mostly Mon-Fri in our Hempstead office. Occasionally it may be required for you to work nights or weekends either in our office or one of our remote stores depending on the nature of the project. Are you OK with this?
  • Are you comfortable working in a busy/distracting environment while still maintaining focus and the ability to multi-task?
  • Do you have a drivers license and are you able to travel to remote stores if need be?
