Role: VMware System Administrator
Length: 3 months – could extend
Location: Boise, ID Onsite
IMPORTANT NOTES:
1 - This is a SHORT-TERM position. The position is funded for a 3-month duration. While there is a possibility that it could extend to 6-months, candidates should understand and accept that this may only last for the 3-month duration initially budgeted and even if extended, is not expected to last beyond 6-months maximum.
2 - This is a FULLY ONSITE position - because it's fully onsite and short-term, only local candidates should be submitted.
3 - ONSITE INTERVIEW is expected for all candidates submitted and selected for interviews.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Installing, configuring and maintaining Windows server hardware and software infrastructure to ensure system reliability, security and performance.
· Implementing network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware from attacks.
· Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring timely resolution of problems to minimize downtime.
· Regularly updating systems with the latest patches and upgrades to protect against vulnerabilities.
· Performing routine backup operations and implementing appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
· Managing Active Directory/Azure AD, including group policy creation, user account management, and domain security protocols.
· Monitoring and managing VMware virtual environment.
· Creating and maintaining documentation regarding system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
· Collaborating with other technology and security staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
· Providing Tier II technical support and guidance to helpdesk staff and end users, addressing user needs and ensuring they can operate productively.
· Coordinating with vendors to resolve complex technical problems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Ability to successfully pass a background check.
· Three (3) years of experience administering Windows Server environments.
· Experience managing and maintaining virtual server environments (VMware).
· Extensive experience installing, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting enterprise Windows and VMware server and storage systems; resolving network or server problems; working with end users to develop and implement information technology solutions for user computing needs in a business environment.
· Experience implementing and maintaining server backup solutions.
· Experience implementing automation of server management tasks.
· Experience in analyzing and troubleshooting enterprise-level computing environments.
· Experience implementing and managing Active Directory
· Considerable knowledge of current information technology trends and capabilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell in a large production environment.
· Experience managing and supporting MS SQL servers.
· Experience designing, analyzing and maintaining high-availability (HA) server environments.
· Experience managing certificates and certification authorities (CA).
· Experience managing and utilizing SAN storage solutions.
· Knowledge of various virtualization environments including both VMware and Hyper-V.
· Some knowledge or experience administering and supporting network systems (e.g., Switches, Routers, Wireless Access Points, etc.).
· Experience integrating local on-prem infrastructure with Azure cloud services.
· Formal training or experience installing, configuring, administering, and maintaining Microsoft Azure and Office 365.
· Current and valid Microsoft certifications.
· Current and valid VMware certifications.
· Knowledge of Microsoft InTune.
