IT Support Specialist (Remote, Project-Based)

Location: Remote (United States required)

Type: Contractor / Project-Based

Hours: Approx. 10–15 hours per week (may fluctuate depending on workload)

Compensation: $20–$30/hour (depending on experience). Contractor role; no benefits.

*This is an ongoing contract role with no fixed term. Engagement continues until terminated by either party with notice.

We’re looking for a flexible IT Support Specialist to join our growing team. This role is fully remote, project-based, and ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and applying both technical and problem-solving skills across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

As an IT Support Specialist, you will:

  • Provide day-to-day IT support for clients’ Microsoft 365 environments (Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, and Entra ID, etc.).
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings in Microsoft 365.
  • Build and customize SharePoint Lists, Power Apps, and Power Automate workflows to streamline client processes.
  • Support website maintenance and updates (primarily Squarespace, WordPress or similar platforms).
  • Assist with general IT troubleshooting, including device setup, endpoint support, and cloud access issues.
  • Document processes, solutions, and updates for clients in clear, professional language.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal team members to clarify requirements, provide updates, and deliver quality results.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Proven experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments (user management, SharePoint, Teams, Exchange, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Power Apps and Power Automate (building and modifying workflows and apps).
  • Experience with basic website updates (WordPress, Squarespace, or similar).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with desktops, laptops, and cloud-based systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical solutions to non-technical users.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to manage tasks independently on a project basis.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with healthcare, nonprofit, or government clients (familiarity with HIPAA compliance is a plus).
  • Knowledge of endpoint security tools and best practices.
  • Familiarity with DNS, domains, or hosting management.
  • Prior contractor or consulting experience.

Compensation & Schedule

  • This is a remote, project-based contract role.
  • You can expect an average of 10–15 hours per week, though hours may vary depending on project complexity.
  • Pay is $20–$30/hour depending on experience.
  • Flexible work schedule; deadlines and deliverables will be agreed upon per project.
