Job Title: CA IDMS Database Administrator

Location: Lynchburg, VA

Clearance : Top Secret or Q or L

Job Description: We are seeking a CA IDMS Database Administrator to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will perform mainframe database software upgrades coupled with administration and tuning to support our customers' CA IDMS environments. The individual will need to work with vendor personnel to achieve timely solutions to database problems. The individual will be responsible for day-to-day database maintenance such as database definition changes, backups and restores, monitoring space growth, database reorganizations.

Responsibilities:

Perform mainframe database software upgrades, administration, and tuning for CA IDMS environments

Collaborate with vendor personnel to resolve database issues

Perform day-to-day database maintenance tasks such as definition changes, backups, restores, and space monitoring

Develop and implement strategies, processes, and best practices in CA IDMS systems programming

Establish policies and procedures related to database management, disaster recovery, security, maintenance, and utilization

Review new versions of CA IDMS and related products, advising on client benefits

Troubleshoot and resolve production database issues

Monitor database performance using tools like CA Sysview and Perfmon

Provide on-call support for planned and unplanned database recovery activities

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

10+ years of professional experience in CA IDMS and related products for administration and systems programming support

System programming knowledge of multiple DBMS's is a bonus

Extensive experience with software management, maintenance, and documentation best practices

Configure and manage CA IDMS and related products such as CA IDMS ADS/Online

Experience in disaster recovery, performance tuning, and database design

Proficiency in SQL scripting and troubleshooting

Self-motivated and able to work independently

Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

Current with new features and enhancements of IDMS

Other Qualifications:

Experience with Shadow z/services from Rocket is a bonus

Familiarity with other related products and their functionalities

Ability to write, debug, and tune SQL

Previous experience in a CA IDMS environment is required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $166,000.00 - $187,000.00 per year
