What you will do in this position:

Build and Maintain Software

  • Develop and maintain Java software for high-traffic online products, with support and guidance from senior developers.
  • Contribute to building and enhancing both internal and customer-facing web applications.

Work with Data and Systems

  • Write, test, and debug SQL queries; learn to use Object-Relational Mappers (ORMs) with major relational databases.
  • Use the command line to manage services, check logs, and assist with system configurations in a Linux environment.

Learn and Apply New Technologies

  • Gain hands-on experience with middleware tools to create scalable, reliable solutions.
  • Participate in design and implementation discussions, sharing ideas and learning to weigh technical trade-offs.

Support Operations

  • Help ensure system stability by participating in scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Join an on-call rotation (after full training and mentorship) to help respond to system issues outside of regular working hours.

Collaborate Across Teams

  • Work closely with business analysts to clarify requirements and translate them into solutions.
  • Partner with product, QA, and operations teams to deliver features that meet business needs.
  • Contribute to team discussions on design and implementation strategies.

Who you are:

  • A motivated developer eager to keep learning and expanding skills in a supportive, fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working in a team setting and open to feedback, mentorship, and growth.
  • Previous professional experience (or advanced academic experience) writing and maintaining software in a collaborative environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or directly related experience.
  • Strong foundation in Java and object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Familiarity with the basic web development lifecycle in a professional environment.
  • Clear communicator with good verbal and written skills, and proactive about asking questions and seeking guidance.

Bonus points:

  • Experience contributing to production support or helping resolve live system issues.
  • Exposure to .Net and/or C#.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
