Job description

seeking a full-time Cloud DevOps Engineer in support of a high-profile federal client. Ideal candidates will be experienced engineers who thrive in fast-paced, highly collaborative, team-oriented environments and who:

  • Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proven track record of collaborating effectively with development teams, business analysts, and stakeholders.
  • Have proven experience developing and maintaining cloud infrastructure and services utilizing AWS tools like RDS, ECS, EC2, Margate, SQS, and SNS.
  • Have proven experience with modern development practices, tools, and infrastructure solutions (e.g., DevSecOps, Agile methodologies, CI/CD, container management, cloud services, Secure by Design principles).
  • They can prioritize their work based on competing demands of clients and team members.
  • Are excited about learning organization-specific programs and technologies.
  • Have a high level of personal initiative with a passion for learning new technologies, tools, and best practices.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, designing, developing, testing, and optimizing enhancements to the API platform. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform operations and maintenance tasks to ensure the continuous availability and reliability of the platform.
  • Coach and mentor development team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and ensure the platform meets their requirements.
  • Optimize the performance of the platform, ensuring scalability and reliability.
  • Oversee the deployment and management of cloud-based solutions, ensuring best practices in cloud architecture and security.
  • Design and document system configuration and processes.
  • Monitor and operate ETL processes and data integration workflows.
  • Implement and enforce security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with federal regulations and standards.
  • Set up and maintain monitoring tools to track the performance and health of the platform.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical guidance.
  • Provide support for monitoring and observability tools, including Datadog, to ensure comprehensive visibility into system performance and health.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 4-8 years of experience in software development and architecture.
  • Strong customer interaction skills with a focus on understanding and addressing customer needs.
  • Expertise in AWS with a strong understanding of tools like RDS, ECS, EC2, Margate, SQS, and SNS.
  • Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, Linux (RedHat), GitLab, DevOps Pipelines.
  • In-depth understanding of security best practices, including Secure by Design principles, and experience with compliance requirements for federal agencies.
  • Experience with performance monitoring tools and techniques, including Datadog.
  • Knowledge of containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and modern development practices (e.g., DevSecOps, Agile methodologies).
  • Understanding of network protocols, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Experience with productivity and collaboration tools (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Jira, Confluence, GitLab, GitHub).
  • Experience with authority to operate (ATO) processes and compliance requirements.
  • Existing public trust high or better, or the ability to obtain one.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $130,696.00 - $160,710.00 per year
