Job description
Job Title: Cybersecurity Analyst
Duration: 12 months
Location: Charlotte, NC (Onsite/Hybrid – local candidates preferred)
Position Overview
This role focuses on supporting cybersecurity compliance and operational security within a large enterprise network environment. The Cybersecurity Analyst I will primarily support NERC CIP–aligned compliance activities, assist with day-to-day security administration, and participate in cybersecurity initiatives across IT and business units.
The ideal candidate has a foundational understanding of NERC CIP standards, general networking principles, and hands-on experience with firewall technologies. Deep expertise is not required, but practical exposure and a strong willingness to learn are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cybersecurity compliance activities, including NERC CIP-related tasks
- Maintain and support the organization’s enterprise security framework
- Participate in cybersecurity projects and cross-functional IT initiatives
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date security documentation, change records, and procedures
- Document work performed and contribute to the team knowledge base
- Collaborate with business partners and IT teams to understand and enforce security requirements
- Identify potential security issues and recommend remediation solutions
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide increased availability during significant incidents (cyber events, severe weather, outages)
- Follow established change management processes
- Respond to security incidents and service disruptions in a timely manner
- Configure, install, maintain, and support security hardware and software
- Deploy code upgrades and assist with troubleshooting during outages
- Analyze security events, firewall logs, and network traffic
- Represent the IT Security organization professionally when interacting with internal teams
Required / Desired Skills & Experience
Security & Compliance
- Working knowledge or exposure to NERC CIP standards
- Familiarity with NIST and/or CIS frameworks
- Understanding of security compliance processes in regulated environments
Networking & Infrastructure
- General networking knowledge, including:
- TCP/IP communications
- DNS, DHCP, HTTP, SMB
- NAT concepts and troubleshooting
- Experience with network monitoring, traffic analysis, and troubleshooting
- Exposure to large enterprise and/or data center environments
Firewall & Security Tools (Hands-on Preferred)
- Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls
- Cisco ASA firewalls
- Ability to develop and manage firewall policies while balancing business needs and security controls
Certifications (Preferred, Not Required)
- Palo Alto Networks PCCET or PCNSA
- Cisco CCNA or Cisco DevNet Associate
- CompTIA Security+ and/or Network+
- Other relevant cybersecurity or networking certifications
Soft Skills
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with a compliance-focused mindset
- Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
- Demonstrated commitment to learning, team success, and professional conduct
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $60.00 - $80.00 per hour
