Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced database administrator who will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, security of clusters of different database instances. You will also be responsible for optimizing and/or assisting developers with complex queries. You will work in tandem with the other teams, preparing documentations, specifications and procedures as it applies to databases.

Job Responsibilities

  • Write and Optimize Queries
  • Provide mentoring to developers as it relates to them developing queries
  • Provision Database instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations
  • Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
  • Prepare documentations and specifications
  • Handle common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
  • Optimize Database Schemas

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL queries
  • 2+ years of relevant MySQL, or MariaDB database management
  • Experience with Amazon RDS and other AWS technologies related to databases such as snapshots, backups, logging, security, performance monitoring, etc ...
  • Experience working with DynamoDB, BigQuery, and MongoDB
  • Experience in Data Warehousing technologies
  • Replication or similar load balancing technologies
  • Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications
  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Fluency in English required
