Job Summary
Brooksource is hiring for one of our federal‑focused clients dedicated to serving our nation’s military and Veterans. This client works closely with federal agencies to advance the United States health care system and improve the overall health and well‑being of those who serve or have served our country.
To support this mission, our client has embarked on a multi‑year modernization journey, within which the Software & Data Engineer will play a key role by developing application features and data pipelines. This role integrates software engineering and data engineering disciplines to build scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, code, test, and debug application components that meet all technical specifications and business requirements per assigned work items.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders, product owners, & feature team on developing requirements.
- Participate in code reviews ensuring engineering standards are being maintained.
- Support production services via monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Design and maintain secure, scalable data pipelines.
- Develop data models and transformations within defined domains.
- Ensure data quality and maintain documentation and data lineage.
- Participate in shared on-call rotations for application and data flows (24/7/365).
Job Qualifications
Required
- Experience leveraging AI tools in the SDLC to improve quality and efficiency
- 2+ years software engineering experience in Agile environments.
- Data engineering experience with SQL, ETL/ELT, and data modeling.
- Experience with web applications, REST APIs, and relational databases.
- .NET Core or similar OOP language; Angular/React or similar.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to work independently.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Domain Driven Design, event-driven architecture, and cloud platforms.
- Experience with CI/CD, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
- Experience utilizing Python.
- Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure and automated provisioning & config management
- Understanding of networking, security, and PKI/OWASP concepts.
- Experience with data governance, observability, and analytics tooling.

Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
