SYSTEMS ENGINEER
Pay range depending on experience and certifications
$80,000 - $125,000
As a leading Managed Services Provider that has been in the industry for over fifteen years. Datalyst along with clients in different sectors within our region, are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to add to our team of System Engineers and Administrators.
This role combines hands-on technical expertise with client-facing project and task leadership, focusing on client technical ecosystem management, optimization and systems deployments.
What will your responsibilities be?
- Deliver expert-level Engineering and support for Microsoft on-prem server platforms, 365, Azure, endpoint security, and modern workplace solutions, including provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management
- Lead technical projects including systems migrations, deployments, and security implementations
- Resolve escalated technical issues with systematic troubleshooting approaches
- Create comprehensive documentation and communicate effectively with clients at all technical levels
- Participate in project planning, scope management, and timeline development
- Improve server and systems reliability and reduce repeat incidents through standard configurations and root cause fixes
- Improve recovery readiness through restoring, testing, and predictable backup operations
- Reduce manual work through automation, write and maintain automation scripts for routine operations and repeatable build processes
- Support identity and core platform services, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy operations in coordination with security standards
- Support virtualization and storage operations, such as VMware, Citrix or equivalent, capacity checks, performance triage, and host health
- Support Azure operational needs tied to server workloads, including VM operations, images, RBAC assignments, tagging support, and monitoring
- Build and maintain monitoring and alerting for server and platform health, tune noisy alerts and define clear escalation paths
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours incidents per established procedures
- Participate in incident response and after-action reviews. Drive root cause analysis and remediation plans with measurable follow-through
- Maintain documentation, build standards, and documentation. Keep documentation current after approved changes
- Work within change control practices and coordinating planned maintenance with stakeholders
What skills will you need?
MSP Background
· Experience supporting multiple clients simultaneously, preferable in a managed service provider setting
· Proficiency in time tracking and project estimation
Required:
· 4 or more years of hands-on experience supporting Windows Server in an enterprise environment
· Certifications in key technologies used
· Strong experience with HP, DELL, Lenovo server deployments, management and operations, including troubleshooting performance and availability issues
· Strong experience with backup and restore processes, including recovery testing
· Strong automation and operational support
· HIPAA, NIST, Network and Security regulations and assessment knowledge
· Working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy operations
· Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Citrix or equivalent
· Experience supporting server workloads in Azure, including VM operations and basic Azure administration
· Experience providing Microsoft 365 administrative support, including Exchange and SharePoint
· Experience supporting an enterprise voice and VoIP environment in a coordination role including incident triage and partner engagement
· Strong documentation and experience working within incident management and change control processes
· Office 365 Administrative duties, including Exchange and SharePoint.
Microsoft 365 Core Expertise
SharePoint Online: Template deployment and Teams integration
Intune/Autopilot: Device management and policy configuration
PowerShell: Regular scripting for automation and troubleshooting
Email Systems: Migration experience, DNS management (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), spam protection
Security: Microsoft Defender and Purview experience preferred
Compliance: M365 tenant hardening and security best practices
Communication & Collaboration
Exceptional English communication skills (verbal, written, documentation)
Experience with ticketing systems and professional client interaction
Preferred Additional Skills
- Sonicwall Firewalls, Citrix XenApp, Datto Backup, Kaseya VSA, Autotask PSA, ITGlue
