Job Title: MSP IT Systems Engineer

Location: Charlottesville

Reports To: Director of Technical Services
Job Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused MSP IT Systems Engineer to join our growing team. This role is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining IT infrastructure solutions for multiple clients across various industries. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems administration, cloud services, networking, and end-user support within an MSP environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for client systems, including servers, workstations, cloud platforms, and networks.
  • Deploy and maintain Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, and related services.
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Manage Office 365 and Azure AD environments, including migrations and integrations.
  • Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and security solutions.
  • Respond to tickets and incidents in a timely, professional manner via help desk platforms.
  • Participate in onboarding of new clients and IT infrastructure assessments.
  • Document processes, system changes, and client-specific environments thoroughly.
  • Collaborate with project teams to deliver IT solutions that meet client needs.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in an MSP or similar multi-client environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies: Windows Server, AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Exchange, Office 365.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS preferred).
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts: firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, DNS.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks across different clients.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant IT certifications
  • Experience with RMM and PSA tools (e.g., ConnectWise, Nable).
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation (PowerShell preferred).
  • Experience with security tools (EDR, MFA, vulnerability scanning).
  • Exposure to compliance standards (HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional travel to client sites is required.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.
  • Must be able to lift equipment up to 40 lbs.
