COMMUNITY IT SPECIALIST II
O'Connor Woods
Full-time
Stockton, CA
Job description
We are looking for a Senior Network Administrator to join our MSP and own the design, stability, and performance of client network environments. This role is focused on routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and connectivity across multiple client sites.
You will be responsible for keeping networks reliable, secure, and scalable while working closely with internal techs and clients to solve real infrastructure problems. This is not a help desk role and not a pure systems role. We are looking for someone who understands how traffic flows, how networks break, and how to design them correctly.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, manage, and maintain client network infrastructure including firewalls, switches, routers, wireless, and VPNs
- Configure and manage VLANs, subnets, routing, and network segmentation
- Monitor network performance, availability, and security and proactively address issues
- Troubleshoot complex connectivity problems including DNS, latency, packet loss, and site-to-site communication
- Manage firewall rules, NAT, VPN tunnels, and security policies
- Support and improve remote access solutions for distributed teams
- Work with ISPs and vendors to resolve circuit, hardware, and carrier issues
- Collaborate with systems administrators to ensure networks properly support servers, cloud services, and identity systems
- Document network diagrams, configurations, standards, and change history
- Participate in after-hours escalation coverage for true network-related emergencies
Qualifications Required
- Proven experience in a Network Administrator or Network Engineer role
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and firewall architecture
- Hands-on experience with firewalls, managed switches, wireless infrastructure, and VPNs
- Ability to troubleshoot network issues methodically and explain root cause clearly
- Comfortable working directly with clients and internal teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent real-world experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Network-focused certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent experience
- Experience supporting multi-site environments and MSP-style client networks
- Familiarity with network security best practices and monitoring tools
- Exposure to cloud networking concepts in Azure or similar platforms
- Experience creating network standards and scalable designs
