The Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of our organization’s cybersecurity strategy. This role involves ensuring the security of information systems and protecting against cyber threats. The specialist will work closely with various departments to identify and mitigate security risks.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Understand and Communicate Processes
- Understand and communicate the Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) lifecycle and processes at VA
- Coordinate with PaaS System Stakeholders
- Manage multiple PaaS Systems within VA Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) tool
- Act as a primary point of contact for PaaS Cyber within varying working groups
- Collaborate with Cybersecurity stakeholders with different levels of security understanding
- Ensure PaaS Cyber processes are executed at each milestone within all of assessment and authorization
- Facilitate and execute approvals and reviews for VA Security personnel at identified milestones
- Support stakeholder and customer expectations as needed
- Track and Manage system compliance deliverables
- Regularly report on system status and blockers
- Manage GRC workflows and engage with VA Authorizing Official Designated Representatives (AODR) to meet deadlines
- Mitigate Risks and Issues
- Remove auth package impediments and coordinate blocker solutions
- Coordinate and develop Plans of Actions and Milestones (POAMS) to remediate and track risk
- Report risks within cyber security change control process for further communication and escalation
- Oversee Project Quality
- Review the accuracy and data integrity of assigned systems, including FISMA required documents. i.e: Incident Response Plans, Contingency Management Plans, etc.
- Support and review regular maintenance and accuracy of project schedules
- Audit PaaS Cyber workflows; identify process alignment, gaps, and communicate results to PaaS Cyber Leads and Veteran’s Affairs (VA) Security Personnel
- Facilitate Process and Documentation Creation and Updates
- Gather, identify, prioritize, and facilitate process/artifact/job aid creation and maintenance
- Implement updated processes; Communicate updated processes to PaaS Cyber Security Lead
- Other duties as assigned
- Coordinate and facilitate customer meetings when needed, taking and disseminating detailed Meeting Minutes
- Support PaaS reporting requirements and data calls
- Engage in PaaS Cybersecurity Program initiatives
- Participate as an active member of the PaaS Cyber Team
- Manage assigned items at the leadership level, from internal and external stakeholders

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant field.
- 5+ years of experience
