Job description
ABOUT US:
We are looking for a highly skilled System Architect to design and guide the technical foundation of Arlow, our AI system of action platform for aging in place. As a critical early team member, you will ensure our architecture is scalable, secure, and adaptable as we move from Alpha to MVP and beyond.
In addition to guiding platform architecture, this role will own the DevOps strategy, implementing best practices for CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and system monitoring. You’ll work closely with product, engineering, and AI teams to translate business needs into technical solutions while staying hands-on in delivery.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of architecture, design, and implementation.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
At Arlow, you’ll be part of a mission-driven startup building technology that helps millions of older adults, their families, and caregivers thrive.
As our System Architect, you’ll shape the foundation of our product, influence key technical decisions, and see your work directly impact people’s lives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Architecture & Platform Design
· Work with our existing foundation to refine a system architecture that supports scale, security, and performance.
· Own decisions around frameworks, APIs, and integrations to ensure flexibility and long-term growth.
· Establish best practices for code quality, documentation, and maintainability.
Development & Implementation
· Collaborate with engineers (agency and internal) to design, build, and refine core platform features.
· Ensure that system architecture supports our product roadmap, including AI integration, caregiver tools, and multi-tenant scalability.
DevOps & Infrastructure
· Stay hands-on in coding critical components where needed.
· Design and manage cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud Platform)
· Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for smooth, automated deployments.
· Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code for repeatable environments.
· Own system monitoring, observability, and alerting to ensure reliability and uptime.
· Lead incident response, post-mortems, and disaster recovery planning.
Collaboration and Leadership
· Partner with Product Management to align technical decisions with user and business needs.
· Work cross-functionally with design and AI teams to integrate architecture into end-user experiences.
Quality & Reliability
· Ensure security, compliance, and privacy are embedded into system design.
· Define standards for testing, monitoring, and reliability.
· Anticipate risks and design systems to minimize technical debt.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
· 7+ years of experience in software engineering with significant time as a system or solutions architect.
· Strong expertise in cloud-based architecture (Google Cloud Platform)
· Background in developing consumer-facing products
· Experience designing scalable platforms with modern frameworks (Node.js, Python, React, etc.).
· Familiarity with AI/ML integration, data pipelines, and conversational interfaces
· Proven ability to translate product requirements into technical solutions.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Strong communication skills to collaborate with product, design, and leadership teams.
· Healthcare experience with a strong understanding of data privacy
We are excited to find a future architect who shares our passion for innovation and is eager to shape the future of AgeTech.
