About the opportunity:

Responsible for managing the design, configuration, implementation, optimization, and integration of all Vail Health's ancillary applications, which include clinical, perioperative, PACs, and business applications. This position combines managerial responsibilities with in-depth hands-on technical expertise to include supervising IT staff, user support, interfaces, optimization, implementations, and upgrades to software and hardware systems. This role guides the team and operations stakeholders on strategic roadmaps and brings forward technology utilization and adoption opportunities across the software suite that they and their team members are responsible for.


What you will do:
  • Plans, manages, directs, and coordinates all activities to ensure a stable application environment, efficient workflows, and responsiveness to achieve enterprise goals and business strategies across the organization.
  • Acts as a point for communicating related system problems within the department and collaborates with other teams and vendors on changes, fixes, and updates, or optimization opportunities.
  • Manages projects and workloads to ensure timely implementation, effective resource utilization, and alignment with enterprise strategic and operational priorities.
  • Negotiates resolution of conflicting requirements across agencies and/or departments.
  • Participates in and fosters the adoption of IT governance processes, change control, and enterprise problem management activities
  • Facilitates building, planning, problem-solving, and prioritization discussions with application teams, information technology specialists, clinical and business operations, and leadership.
  • Develops relevant metrics, measures, and publishes the performance of the services provided, enabling continuous improvement activities in collaboration with peer groups.
  • Manages project personnel and vendor resources based on assigned duties and scope of authority to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Manages and negotiates software contracts and invoices.
  • Creates and presents content in a professional manner.
  • Maintains an in-depth understanding of the organization's ancillary, PACs, and perioperative applications and technical systems interdependencies.
  • Manages delivery and SLAs by guiding incident resolution, problem management, maintenance, and enhancement tickets raised by the end users for clinical applications.
  • Supports the creation of ancillary and perioperative application training materials.
  • Sets and measures performance objectives and provides regular one-on-one feedback to all members of the team.
  • Works closely with all other IT management personnel to identify, evaluate, select, and implement specific information technologies that support business plans and IT strategies.
  • Reviews reports to ensure the integrity of shared ancillary application and perioperative systems and makes recommendations for improvements.

What you will need:
Experience:
  • Two years of leadership experience required.
  • Five years of experience managing application implementations, including resource management in a healthcare environment required.
  • Experience in Electronic Health Records and PACs applications preferred.
  • Familiarity with health information technology and related regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Understanding of and experience with application lifecycle and development methodologies required.
  • Highly self-motivated, directed, and change-oriented required.
  • Ability to compile and complete data analytics exercises in support of business initiatives
  • Ability to handle confrontation with appropriate grace, professionalism, and firmness, and resolve disputes appropriately is required.
  • Ability to communicate concepts in elegant, concise, eloquent form to management and to cross-functional departments verbally, in writing, and through pictures, presentations, or diagrams when appropriate is required.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or healthcare preferred.
