About the Job
The Database and Systems Administrator manages and maintains the associations web-based database applications, optimizes SQL queries, executes third-party reporting, and ensures the integrity of our relational database structure and content. This role plays a critical part in supporting NETA’s data-driven decision-making and ensuring seamless operation of our web-based applications.

NETA, the International Electrical Testing Association, is on a mission to lead the electrical power systems industry through education, standards development, accreditation of third-party testing companies, and certification of electrical testing technicians. Put simply, this means that we literally wrote the book(s) on how to navigate medium and high-voltage power systems safely and we work tirelessly to educate industry professionals on the importance of these documents. We take the practice of safety and equipment reliability seriously, so we also accredit testing companies that remain divested of competing interests and certify their technicians based on their unique skillsets and field experience.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and optimize relational database structures supporting NETA’s web-based applications.
- Develop and execute SQL queries, stored procedures, and database functions to support operational and reporting needs.
- Ensure database security, integrity, and availability through best practices in backup, recovery, and user access management.
- Maintain and administer web-based database applications, ensuring uptime, performance, and security.
- Oversee third-party integrations and reporting tools, ensuring seamless data exchange and compatibility.
- Work with stakeholders to develop and refine database-driven applications and reports.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database and application-related issues.
- Develop and maintain reports using third-party reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
- Design and maintain data models and structures to improve data accessibility and usability for business intelligence.
- Ensure compliance with data governance policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
- Work closely with software developers, IT staff, and business stakeholders to optimize database functionality.
- Assist in the development and implementation of data-driven solutions to enhance organizational efficiency.
- Supporting virtual training events; conference platform set-up and support, online training set-up and support, and troubleshooting any technical training issues.
- Document system configurations, database structures, and standard operating procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred; or combination of education, certifications, and/or work experience relevant for this role.
- Minium 3 years of experience in database administration, systems administration, or a related role.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, including query optimization, stored procedures, and relational database design.
- Experience with web-based database applications and third-party reporting tools.
- Experience with cloud-based database applications and hosting environments (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, etc.).
- Familiarity with CRM and AMS platforms used in professional associations. NETA utilizes Association Anywhere by ACGI.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for automation.
- Understanding of database infrastructure and cybersecurity best practices.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experienced with project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Able to provide creative insights and recommendations for advancing the role with a focus on future growth.
- Able to establish professional rapport with Board Members, Committee Chairs, Association Members/Partners, and vendors to help further the Association’s initiatives.
- Strong self-starter and team player in a high achievement-oriented environment.
- Travel is required for the association’s industry conference, PowerTest.
Physical Requirements
- Physical requirements are consistent with working in an office environment – sitting for long periods of time, walking throughout the office, able to go up and down stairs without an elevator, able to lift and move 35 pounds, repetitive motions that may include wrists, hands, and fingers, and operating office equipment,
- When attending PowerTest, or any other event on behalf of the association, standing and walking for an extended period will be required over multiple days, along with moving, packing and unpacking heavy boxes, and any other physical requirement to put on a large event like a conference.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
