About APTNEXUS
Since our founding 2012, APTNEXUS has empowered federal agencies and commercial enterprises to navigate the complexities of the digital landscape. As a quality-driven small business, we specialize in the seamless delivery of IT modernization and elite cybersecurity solutions. We help our clients modernize and fortify their technology stacks —ensuring their most critical data and assets remain resilient, optimized, and secure in an evolving threat environment.
Clearance:
- Must have an active Secret security clearance.
Position Overview:
The Senior Web Systems Engineer will serve as the technical lead for our customer’s digital presence. This hybrid role manages the end-to-end lifecycle of the agency’s internal collaboration environment (SharePoint/Power Platform) and its public-facing communications portal (WordPress). The ideal candidate is a "working architect" who can configure complex workflows with strict Azure/M365 permissions within our customer’s internal SharePoint online environment and can also deploy code to a FedRAMP-authorized Cloud.gov/WordPress Internet environment. Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- SharePoint & Power Platform (Internal Operations)
- Lead the architecture and governance of the M365 environment, ensuring 508 compliance and data integrity.
- Develop complex, low-code/pro-code solutions using Power Apps (Canvas/Model-driven) and Power Automate to digitize agency workflows.
- Manage M365/Azure Active Directory permissions, implementing Least Privilege access models.
- Maintain and customize SharePoint Online sites using the SharePoint Framework (SPFx) where out-of-the-box functionality is insufficient.
- WordPress & Cloud.gov (External Presence)
- Oversee the development, security, and maintenance of the agency’s public website hosted on WordPress.
- Manage deployment pipelines to Cloud.gov (or similar PaaS), ensuring high availability and adherence to federal security standards.
- Implement custom themes and plugins while ensuring the site meets the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) standards.
- Coordinate with the Security team to ensure all public-facing assets pass regular vulnerability scans and penetration testing.
- Systems Architecture & Security
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for cloud-based infrastructure, specifically Azure Government and FedRAMP authorized services.
- Develop integrations between SharePoint and WordPress (e.g., automated document publishing) via APIs or middleware.
- Maintain technical documentation and System Security Plans (SSPs) required for Authority to Operate (ATO) renewals.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT-related disciplines.
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in web development and systems administration, with at least 5 years specifically focused on Microsoft 365.
- Expert-level knowledge of SharePoint Online, including migration experience and SPFx development.
- Demonstrated success in building enterprise-grade Power Apps and complex Power Automate flows.
- Senior-level experience in PHP-based WordPress development, specifically within a containerized or PaaS environment.
- Proven experience managing applications on Cloud.gov, AWS GovCloud, or Azure Government.
- Deep understanding of Section 508 accessibility, NIST 800-53 security controls, and the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA).
- Languages: PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, HTML5, CSS/SASS.
- Tools: Git, Azure DevOps, CLI (Cloud Foundry), VS Code.
- Identity: OAuth, SAML, Azure AD/Entra ID.
