Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior DevSecOps Engineer to join our dynamic technology team. seeking a highly skilled Senior DevSecOps Engineer to spearhead cloud modernization and
automation initiatives for the United States Coast Guard (USCG) at C5ISC in Alexandria, VA. In this mission-critical role,
you will architect and implement secure cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps frameworks that directly
support national security operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, automated CI/CD pipelines for mission applications.
- Architect and manage cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS, Azure, and Python.
- Develop infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Deploy and optimize Kubernetes, Docker, Red Hat OpenShift, or similar platforms.
- Implement container security, registry integrations, and automated deployment workflows.
- Create, manage, and optimize virtual machines using VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or KVM.
- Configure and maintain virtualized environments for performance, scalability, and security.
- Support hybrid cloud modernization and integration of virtualization technologies.
- Embed security controls and best practices into CI/CD pipelines and the SDLC.
- Implement automated vulnerability scanning, SAST/DAST, and container security tools.
- Ensure compliance with NIST, DHS/DoD, ISO, and USCG security standards.
- Deploy, secure, and maintain systems across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or OCI.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and operational resilience of cloud-based services.
- Establish and maintain proactive monitoring using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK.
- Work cross-functionally with developers, security teams, and operations personnel.
- Mentor junior engineers and help mature DevSecOps best practices across the organization.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of experience in an IT-related discipline.
- 4+ years of customer-facing experience supporting enterprise environments.
- 5+ years of cloud administration (MS O365, SharePoint, Azure AD, AWS).
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, Java, or Go.
- Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or similar IaC tools.
- Expertise with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and orchestration platforms.
- Strong knowledge of security engineering and vulnerability management.
- Experience with monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK).
- Strong Linux/Unix, networking, and Git version control experience.
- Proficiency with Red Hat OpenShift.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain Public Trust and up to a DoD Secret clearance.
Required Certifications
Candidate must hold at least one of the following:
- Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
- Kubernetes & Cloud Native Associate (KCNA)
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
- AWS Certified SysAdmin
- AWS Certified Advanced Networking
- AWS Certified Security
- Azure Developer Associate
- Azure Solutions Architect
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $107,473.32 - $129,430.23 per year
