Academic Technology within the Division of Information Technology (DoIT) seeks a software developer to join our team and make a significant impact on the university's academic environment. DoIT provides core IT infrastructure services to the university, develops and implements services for the university and in some cases, for the Universities of Wisconsin, plays a major role in managing the state-wide higher education network and regional networks.
The Academic Technology department advances the University of Wisconsin-Madison's mission and strategic priorities as well as the Wisconsin Idea by providing innovative and sustainable services that support teaching and learning research throughout the university community. Academic Technology services include software development, project management, digital accessibility & user experience, learning analytics, training, pre-college programs, and support for the suite of learning technologies that facilitate teaching and learning.
The Software Developer will assume a role in the development and enhancement of web-based applications including database development in support of academic applications on campus. The emphasis for this position is on developing and implementing rich user experiences for learners, advisors, instructors, and other members of the academic community. This position works with other DoIT staff to take advantage of centralized applications and integration tools when implementing these applications.
Typical duties of this position include performing challenging programming activities and troubleshooting/debugging production systems. In collaboration with other team members, this position will meet with stakeholders and other campus partners to define and develop appropriate solutions in support of business cases and to provide technical expertise for the development of new systems and for the maintenance and support of existing systems.

This position is eligible for any of the following: 100% remote work; partial remote work; or fully on-site. Remote work requires an approved remote work agreement (RWA) agreement, which is reviewed and approved annually. An RWA requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee.

Depending on Qualifications
Starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications. Well qualified applicants can expect to earn between $80,000 - $90,000, with final salary based on experience and qualifications.
