Assistant Construction Project Manager

Job description

The Assistant Project Manager ensures that all phases of the project cycle including design, estimating, subcontract administration, and construction are completed timely and profitably. This is accomplished through:

Leadership

· Create foundational trust based on the highest integrity and the dignity of every person

· Assist in facilitating the project design process with in-house architects / engineers

· Help lead the design-build and/or precast concrete team to prepare complete and accurate proposals

· Assist in preparation of conceptual budgets quickly and accurately with limited information

· Assist in the oversight and management of all project staff

· Assist project teams with site safety documentation and coordination

· Assist project teams with closeout of the project including preparation of O&M manuals

Creation / Development/ Maintenance

· Prepare takeoff information for project estimates

· Create, manage, and track Subcontractor change order logs

· Create, manage, and track project Submittal logs

· Create, manage, and track project RFI’s

· Maintains project document lists

· Prepare weekly project status reports

· Keep accurate records and electronic data base of all element of the projects

· Document weekly project meetings

· Assist the Project Manager in developing and managing project schedules

· Actively participate in policy and procedure development

· Work in conjunction with management to prepare personnel forecast to project employment needs

Financial Controls

· Assist the Project Manager with project buyout process by preparing subcontractor bid packages, negotiating, awarding, and preparing subcontracts

· In coordination with the project manager, prepare and issue subcontractor change orders

· In coordination with the project manager, manage job cost reporting to project profitability

· Prepare schedule of values for monthly payment applications

Success of the position is measured by:

· Complete and accurate estimates

· Project profitability

· Projects delivered on time

· Project safety; incidents, lost time accidents, regulatory sanctions / fines

· Customer satisfaction

To perform this job successfully the employee must have the following:

· A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field

· The ability to operate a computer, computer networks, common software and communication devices.

· The ability to read, analyze, and interpret general construction documents, drawings, and details

· The ability to demonstrate a high level of safety/training knowledge

· The ability to communicate at a high level, both receiving and disseminating information for clear understanding

· The ability to understand broad direction and then formulate and execute detailed complex plans to meet that direction

· The ability to make complex judgments in the interest of the company and employees

· Can demonstrate and be considered a leader in company values with forward thinking and a high affinity for progress

· Duties may also include other related management and engineering activities as assigned by his/her immediate supervisor.

Individuals will be selected and trained for this position at the discretion of the Vice President

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
