It is in your best interest to submit materials as soon as possible.Want to join something GREAT and make a difference?The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive cybersecurity professional to join our Information Technology Division as a Cybersecurity Analyst. In this vital role, you’ll take point on threat hunting, endpoint detect and response administration and supporting the DNR IT Cybersecurity program as a first line of defense and customer contact for security operations, handling alerts, and assisting our scientists, server operators, and law enforcement officers with security related issues, and escalating complex incidents to senior staff. You’ll work closely with other cybersecurity staff daily to participate in vulnerability management, attack surface management, governance, and with engineers and architects to ensure DNR people, data, and systems maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability to serve the residents of the great state of Washington. Your work will have a direct impact on DNR's mission-critical services across Washington state. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Responsibilities: Assess and respond to security incidents or risks, gather needed information, and find appropriate solutions.Use multiple centralized endpoint protection tools to monitor client workstations. Resolve issues in endpoint detection and response client software by working directly with end users.Assist in the analysis of and response to cybersecurity incidents, including initial forensic analysis.Work closely with service desk, desktop engineering, and cybersecurity staff to coordinate efforts to protect and secure data, systems, our users, and the business.Assist others in configuration and maintenance of Microsoft 365 endpoint technologies as needed.Engage with employees after security incidents to provide personalized consultations on how to prevent future incidents.Educate employees on the importance of cybersecurity, explaining best practices, policies, and procedures in simple terms.Monitor and respond to cybersecurity technology monitoring systems, resolving issues and escalating to appropriate staff as neededAssist in research planning and metrics gathering for new and existing systems, helping to evaluate effectiveness and areas for improvement.Stay current on emerging cybersecurity trends and technologies, contributing suggestions for potential implementations.
