Position: SQL DBA

Location: Austin, TX

Duration: 6 month contract-to-hire

Compensation: $50 - $60 / Hour

Work schedule: Monday-Friday (8 AM-5PM CST) - onsite 3x per week

This role involves managing complex systems with a focus on SQL database administration (approximately 25% of responsibilities), server/software installation, and overall systems maintenance.

Core Requirements:

  • SQL Server (2012–2022): SSIS, SSRS, SSAS; 5+ years experience
  • Windows OS (Client & Server, 2012+): 5+ years
  • Microsoft Office Suite: 5+ years
  • SQL Tools: SQL Management Studio, T-SQL, SQL Profiler, Extended Events
  • PowerShell: 1–2+ years preferred
  • Virtualization: VMWare or similar; 2+ years
  • Server Operations: OS patching, Active Directory
  • Cloud: Experience with MS Azure and Azure DevOps
  • Security & Compliance: Familiarity with SOX/SOCII environments
  • Availability: Occasional after-hours deployments
  • Location: Austin, TX or willing to relocate

Soft Skills & Work Style:

  • Strong troubleshooting in large-scale environments (1000+ servers, 300+ SQL instances)
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and multitasking abilities
  • Self-starter with discipline and adaptability
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

  • Ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow)
  • Visual Studio familiarity
  • Monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, Idera, Quest)
  • Windows clustering/Always On (2+ years)
  • Exposure to financial systems (loan accounting/origination)
  • Linux OS, Docker, Kubernetes/Containers
