Job Title: Senior Kubernetes Administrator

Location: Austin, TX

Contract: 6-Month CTH

Rate: $70/hr

About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Kubernetes Administrator with strong Azure and AKS experience. In this role, you will design, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes clusters and containerized workloads while ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. You will collaborate closely with DevOps, development, and security teams, providing mentorship and promoting best practices across the organization.


Why This Role is Open:

The team is transitioning to containerization and has some internal experience but requires expert guidance and knowledge transfer. During the first 45 days, this role will be highly hands-on, educating and mentoring a team of 9–11 engineers in Kubernetes. By day 90, the position will transition into architectural leadership, where the successful candidate will guide the team’s growth and drive application architecture toward long-term goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and manage AKS clusters at scale, including upgrades, patching, and scaling.
  • Ensure cluster security and compliance (RBAC, network policies, Azure AD integration).
  • Configure Kubernetes networking, ingress controllers, service meshes, and persistent storage.
  • Automate infrastructure using IaC tools (Terraform/Bicep) and integrate with CI/CD pipelines (ArgoCD preferred).
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions (Dynatrace).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.

Top Requirements:

  • Certifications: CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator), CKS (Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist), or Azure Solutions Architect.
  • 5+ years of Kubernetes administration experience in production environments.
  • 3+ years of Azure cloud and AKS experience, with strong Linux administration skills.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or Bicep), CI/CD integration, Helm, and scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
