Job description
Since 1925, the Automobile Insurers Bureau of Massachusetts (AIB) has been the auto insurance industry’s service bureau in Massachusetts providing advisory rate and rule services to its member companies.
We are seeking a knowledgeable and energetic individual to support all activities relating to the Bureau's database and related application control software products. Work involves assuring proper functioning of these software products including timely installation of vendor-supplied enhancements. Other work involves planning and managing database and application security methods and processes to ensure systems compliance with data privacy laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update the database and related application control software products supplied by various vendors on SQL and SharePoint platforms.
- Monitor SQL/SharePoint software and hardware performance to ensure optimal operation of the systems. Tune the products as appropriate to maintain consistency.
- Evaluate and recommend database and related application control software products to enhance control and operation of the systems.
- Support the Applications Programming staff in database file design and access.
- Work closely with developers to ensure that production turnover is consistent with established standards. Maintain control over source and production libraries. Establish turnover procedures and controls for Q/A and Production servers.
- Maintain knowledge in contemporary database and application security threats. Plan and implement security products and methodologies to ensure data access is appropriately limited to authorized and authenticated users.
- Maintain systems compliance with any externally or internally mandated data privacy laws, regulations or policies, ensuring appropriate system audit and control procedures are in place and functioning. Recommend data system changes, as appropriate, to ensure data security regulations.
- Participate in staff meetings to continually refine existing and develop new standards and procedures appropriate to our operations environment.
- Consult with vendor representatives and Technical Support staff to ensure systems are operating in an efficient manner, recent upgrades/changes are applied, and the equipment is properly maintained.
- Prepare status reports, reporting significant developments, problems and time investments.
Educational and/or Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science.
- 8-10 years of related experience required.
- Training in database logical and physical structures.
- Excellent written, oral and organizational skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
- Microsoft DBA and SharePoint certifications a plus.
- Ability to Satisfy a Clean Background Check.
