nuVizz is a logistics SaaS platform company providing delivery & transportation orchestration and real-time visibility capabilities. We work with some of the largest shippers, carriers, 3PLs and freight forwarders helping them manage their delivery ecosystem and provide better customer experience. As a software developer you will be responsible for contributing and developing mobile technology and cloud based web solutions.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Intermediate Database Administrator with 2-5 years of experience to join our technical team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the health, integrity, and performance of our database systems, which rely heavily on open-source and NoSQL technologies. You will play a key role in supporting our developers, optimizing database performance, and ensuring the reliability of our critical data infrastructure.
This role requires specific hands-on experience in at least two of the following database technologies: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, and Elasticsearch.
Key Responsibilities
· Database maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain database software and systems in a production environment.
· Performance tuning: Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and perform query and index optimization to maximize efficiency.
· Backup and recovery: Implement, manage, and test robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data reliability and minimize downtime.
· Security: Implement and maintain security protocols, manage user access permissions, and ensure data integrity across all database environments.
· Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, working independently to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems.
· Automation: Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., using Python, Bash, or PowerShell) to automate routine administrative tasks.
· Collaboration: Work closely with development, operations, and IT teams to support application development and system deployment efforts.
· Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
· 2–5 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator.
· Proven expertise in the administration and management of at least two of the following: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, or Elasticsearch.
· Strong command of SQL (for relational databases) and/or database-specific query languages.
· Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation.
· Familiarity with database high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) setups.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
· Strong communication and collaboration skills.
· Preferred qualifications
· Relevant certifications (e.g., PostgreSQL Certified Professional, MongoDB Certified DBA).
· Experience with cloud-hosted database environments on platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
· Experience in a 24x7 web production environment.
· Familiarity with DevOps processes and CI/CD pipelines.
