Cloud Solutions Architect
Location: Fort Belvoir, VA (Onsite)
Job Description:
The Cloud Solutions Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based IT infrastructure solutions with a strong emphasis on AWS and Azure platforms. This role combines technical expertise in cloud architecture, cybersecurity, and IT modernization to support mission-critical operations for defense and commercial clients. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in system engineering, enterprise architecture, and cloud infrastructure design, with a proven ability to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable cloud-based solutions using AWS and Azure to meet mission requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevSecOps, system engineers, and cybersecurity personnel, to deliver robust infrastructure solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, ensuring compliance with best practices and standards.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as AWS CloudFormation, CDK, and Terraform.
- Strengthen system security by implementing DISA STIGs, conducting regular vulnerability scans, and remediating identified issues.
- Support the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process to achieve system accreditation and maintain compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards.
- Manage and optimize virtualized environments (VMware) and containerized applications using Kubernetes and Docker.
- Author and maintain technical documentation, including system design artifacts, standard operating procedures, and project plans.
- Monitor system performance and provide Tier 3 support for complex technical issues.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to enhance operational capabilities.
Job Duties:
- Architect enterprise IT modernization solutions, including virtualized servers, databases, and networking infrastructure.
- Develop and implement high-availability cloud environments with advanced authentication and encryption mechanisms.
- Streamline data and network security using tools such as Splunk, Nessus, and Ansible.
- Conduct Test and Evaluation (T&E) assessments for custom software tools and ensure seamless integration.
- Oversee multi-datacenter infrastructure expansions to improve resilience and scalability.
- Optimize system performance through proactive monitoring, root cause analysis, and
- corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver technical training sessions to enhance team expertise.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in AWS and Azure cloud platforms, with hands-on experience in services such as EC2, S3, Azure Virtual Machines, and Azure Storage.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, including RMF, DISA STIGs, and vulnerability management tools like Nessus.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware) and containerization tools (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Expertise in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation, CDK, and Terraform.
- Proficient in scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
- Strong understanding of network and storage architecture, Active Directory, and Windows/Linux server management.
Desired Skills:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
- CompTIA Security+ CE certification.
- Experience with advanced monitoring and logging tools like Splunk.
- Familiarity with DoD IT systems and accreditation processes.
- Experience leading technical teams and managing complex IT projects.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science discipline or equivalent.

Pay: $190,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
