Bitcoin IT Engineer – On-Site Role with Growth Path (West Texas)

We’re a fast-growing industrial operation in West Texas seeking a hands-on, resourceful IT Engineer to join our core team. This is a high-impact role at a facility with robust infrastructure, custom systems, and plenty of room for growth. We need someone with a strong technical foundation and leadership potential to eventually take charge of IT operations and guide a small on-site team.
Tasks:
- Direct responsibility for ensuring stable hashrate, maximum uptime, and IT infrastructure reliability.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of 5-7 IT technicians, ensuring efficient task distribution and accountability.
- Install, configure, and maintain Bitcoin mining machines and supporting infrastructure.
- Perform both preventive and emergency maintenance on miners, servers, and network equipment to ensure maximum uptime.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware failures, conduct component replacements, and optimize system performance.
- Monitor, manage, and troubleshoot all IT related infrastructure critical to facility operations.
- Respond rapidly to on-site issues including overheating, network disruptions, and power fluctuations.
- Oversee and document equipment inventory, ensuring proper tagging and tracking in asset management systems.
- Manage deployment and scaling of new miners and supporting systems (air-cooled, immersion, and hydro setups).
- Operate, optimize, and maintain heat dissipation and cooling systems to support large-scale operations.
- Analyze workflows, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Provide clear and timely reporting on machine performance, facility uptime, and team productivity.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of IT and facility infrastructure, with working knowledge of networking (switching, VLANs, IP setups, security) as part of a broader operations skillset.
- Proven ability to lead projects and teams, balancing hands-on technical work with planning, task distribution, and oversight.
- Skilled at troubleshooting and optimizing systems in a live, always-on industrial environment.
- Organized, disciplined, and detail-oriented, with a mindset for doing things right and improving processes.
- Experience with industrial control and automation (PLCs such as Wago, Siemens, or Allen-Bradley) is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with control systems, sensors, Modbus (RTU/TCP), serial interfaces, or sensor data pipelines.
- Direct experience with Bitcoin ASIC mining environments (Antminer, WhatsMiner, immersion/hydro setups) and their supporting infrastructure.
- Knowledge of containerized mining layouts, custom control systems, hashrate monitoring, miner diagnostics, and firmware tools.
Compensation:
$43–$58/hour ($90K–$120K annually), depending on experience and leadership potential.
