In partnership with our client, a multi-disciplined engineering firm, we are seeking an experienced Land Surveyor located in Chattanooga, TN. The right candidate will be an LSIT or RLS and be proficient in Civil3D and/or MicroStation OpenRoads.
JOB SUMMARY
The Land Surveyor must have strong technical skills including data processing, traverses and GNSS/GPS networks, and preferably familiar with Trimble Business Center suites of software. Familiarity with 3D scanning and UAV technology is a plus, as well as the ability to manage field and office personnel as needed.
The candidate will work independently on complicated and challenging survey projects for various types of clients associated with civil, environmental, and transportation while providing seasoned solutions to Project Managers, Engineers, Architects, Landscape Architects, and others. This is a contract-to-direct hire opportunity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates with various discipline leads on scheduling objectives and project milestones for various geomatics and surveying projects.
- Approves a subset of more complex deliverables and surveys by analyzing reports, programming, client requirements, and other relevant information.
- Performs in-process quality review of survey field activities, legal descriptions, maps, aerial photographs, calculations, and other diverse types of project deliverables
- Performs complex calculations utilizing Trimble Business Center software.
- Acts as project specific lead for technical survey/ geomatics work of others
- Prepares computations and cost estimates using various software packages in order to validate various findings. Utilizes GIS software to collect data, attribute features, produce maps, etc.
- Applies seasoned knowledge through progressive experience to resolve issues
- Anticipates roadblocks and provides recommendations for resolution to ensure strong accuracy of survey work
- Stays up to date regarding new methods, standards, regulations, and developments affecting the organization, and recommends new practices or changes in emphasis
- Provides resourcefulness and initiative to perform projects
- Communicates with clients pertaining to specific projects and attends client meetings
- Coordinates deliverables between clients, teaming partners, and other disciplines working on a project
- Mentors less experienced team members
- Review work of others for quality purposes
- Prepares project proposals
- Performs other duties as required
REQUIRED QUALITIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying/Geomatics or related field from an accredited program, or other relevant combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in boundary, topographic, and construction surveying, preferably from an A&E firm
- Extensive knowledge of Survey equipment and software, and other essential equipment for field and office work
- Familiarity with terrestrial, aerial, and mobile scanning including software such as Leica Cyclone and TopoDOT
- A Part 107 UAV Remote Pilot license preferred as well as the ability to extract drone data using Pix4D, or a comparable UAV processing software
- Valid driver’s license and sufficient driving record
- Ability to work varying schedules
- Ability to travel, including overnight
- Work environment includes working outdoors and in rough terrain
