Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Portland, Oregon Metro Area | Full-Time | Hybrid

About the Opportunity:

A growing healthcare organization in the Portland metro area is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. This is a hands-on technical role for someone who thrives on designing, implementing, and managing enterprise infrastructure while mentoring the next generation of IT professionals.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, implement, and manage advanced network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and security
  • Oversee server and datacenter operations, including installation, configuration, and maintenance
  • Lead on-premise to Azure cloud migration projects for critical business applications
  • Develop and maintain IT policies and procedures aligned with ITIL best practices
  • Ensure compliance with NIST, HIPAA, and regulatory standards
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and minimize downtime
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic business objectives
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members
  • Responsible for the hygiene of the company infrastructure

Required Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering or similar role
  • Demonstrated ability to design and architect IT solutions and lead technical projects

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced networking: routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs
  • Extensive server and datacenter management experience
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft technologies including:
  • Windows Server and Active Directory administration
  • Azure cloud services
  • Virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware)
  • SQL Server
  • Enterprise systems management (SCCM, SCOM)
  • Backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Experience with on-premise to Azure cloud migrations
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices
  • PowerShell scripting and automation

Core Competencies:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with effective prioritization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ITIL v4 Foundation certification
  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect
  • Healthcare IT or HIPAA-regulated environment experience

Work Environment:

This is a full-time, hybrid position based in the Portland metro area. Standard office environment with occasional work in server room/datacenter required.
