Job description
Our client is a growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) focused on delivering best-in-class IT support, cybersecurity, and compliance solutions to small and mid-sized businesses. They are looking for an IT Director to lead their technical operations, oversee service delivery, and drive continuous improvement across their technology stack. This is a strategic leadership position responsible for ensuring client satisfaction, optimizing internal processes, and mentoring a talented team of technicians.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who understands MSP operations, thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment, and can balance strategic planning with day-to-day execution.
What You’ll Do
- Technical Leadership: Serve as the highest technical authority, guiding decisions on network architecture, security, cloud services, and system design.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering and helpdesk teams; set performance expectations and conduct regular coaching and reviews.
- Service Delivery: Oversee all aspects of IT service delivery to ensure adherence to security, timely resolution of incidents, and exceptional customer experience.
- Process Optimization: Develop and implement processes for incident, problem, change, and asset management; identify opportunities for efficiency and automation.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with company President to align IT services with company/client business goals; contribute to annual planning and budgeting.
- Cybersecurity & Compliance: Maintain layered security approach (EDR, SOC/SIEM, MFA, backup/DR), stay current on regulations (NIST, HIPAA, PCI), and ensure company & client compliance.
- Vendor & Project Management: Manage technical vendor relationships, review contracts and oversee complex infrastructure and cloud projects from scoping to implementation.
- Reporting & Metrics: Develop and track KPIs (response time, resolution time, client satisfaction), produce regular performance reports, and present actionable insights to leadership.
You Ideally Have
- 7+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or team lead role.
- Experience working in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment or similar fast-paced, multi-client IT environment preferred.
- Strong technical expertise in cybersecurity products & services, networking, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), Microsoft 365, Azure, and backup/DR solutions
- Deep understanding of MSP tools (PSA, RMM, documentation platforms) and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with AI tools, platforms, or automations.
- Proven experience managing and scaling technical teams while maintaining high service quality.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to explain complex technology in business-friendly terms.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to manage escalations calmly and effectively.
- Strong business acumen and ability to align IT strategy with client objectives.
- Relevant certifications strongly preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
