Full-time
Providence, RI
Job description
We’re Scan.com, the digital health scale-up making diagnostics accessible, fast, and transparent. Our technology speeds up diagnoses for timely treatments, improving healthcare outcomes for hundreds of patients each day.
We’re doing diagnostics differently, with a portfolio of brands tailored to both patients and providers, all backed by our world-class customer operations team. Our B2C marketplace simplifies booking a scan, making it as straightforward for patients as booking a hotel. Our B2B platforms provide live scheduling at the point of care and harness AI to ease workflows for physicians, attorneys, and providers.
We’re looking for a UX Designer at an exciting time – we’ve successfully launched multiple platforms and products, raised over $70m in VC funding, reached profitability, and have 10x’d in scale over the last 12 months. We are Atlanta-based; however, we welcome remote applicants on the East Coast.
As a UX Designer at Scan.com, you will play a crucial role in crafting software that has a direct impact on the lives of thousands patients worldwide. You'll be part of a team on a mission to make medical imaging accessible to everyone, and your work will have a direct input on achieving that goal.
Collaborating closely with our tech, growth, and product management teams, you'll design new user experiences and identify opportunities for product improvements across our international products.
You should have strong UX thinking, a clean, modern visual aesthetic, and the ability to turn complex medical workflows into intuitive, user-friendly interfaces.
You'll have the opportunity to shape and refine our product offerings, making them more intuitive, user-friendly, and accessible to a global audience. Join us in our mission to transform the world of diagnostic imaging and improve healthcare outcomes for patients everywhere.
UX & UI design:
Design intuitive user experiences for our booking platform, patient portal, and internal medical tools
Create wireframes, prototypes, and user flows articulate innovative design concepts
Contribute to and maintain our design system for consistency across our platform
User research & testing:
Identify pain points and optimise user flows based on data & feedback
Design and execute usability tests, interviews and surveys and analyse insights to improve product UX
Work closely with patients, medical professionals, and internal teams to refine experiences
Collaboration & implementation:
Work with product managers, engineers, and key stakeholders to align design with business objectives and user needs
Ensure seamless handoffs to developers with clear specs and guidance
Iterate quickly based on user feedback and analytics
You don't need to tick all the boxes to apply for this role. Whether it's your first role or your fifth role, we believe everyone can add value and that everyone should want to learn. However, these might be some of the ways you are currently adding value:
4+ years of experience in UX/UI design (preferably in healthcare, SaaS, or complex web apps)
Strong UX thinking—you know how to design for usability, accessibility, and efficiency
Strong visual design skills (composition, typography, iconography, layout, colour theory)
Experience designing dashboards, portals, or multi-step booking flows
Basic understanding of frontend development (so you can design with feasibility in mind)
Strong communication skills—you can articulate design decisions & rationale
Ability to work autonomously and take initiative in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and a passion for making quality products
Experience building healthcare products
Knowledge of accessibility best practices (WCAG standards)
Motion/Interaction design for micro-interactions and animations
Understanding of user psychology & behavior analytics
A link to your online portfolio showcasing end-to-end design processes, from research and ideation through to implementation and iteration is essential when applying for this role.
We keep our interview process short and sweet, and we’re a nimble team that can progress at pace. Here are the stages you can expect, but we might switch up the order of each step depending on team availability:
Introductory call/interview with Devin, our Senior Talent Partner. The call is via telephone and will last around 30 minutes.
Should it feel like there is an initial fit for all, we will invite you to a video call with the hiring manager for around 45 minutes. This is a more structured interview that will deep-dive into the role and technical needs.
All of our roles will have a small assessment stage. This might be in person, a take-home assessment, or further video calls. Length varies, but we’re mindful of your time and try to keep it as simple as possible.
Meet the founders and/or other team members. Again, length varies depending on how many people and whether in person or via video call.
Offer!
We go beyond the basics with our benefits package. Here’s what you can expect from us:
