Midstate Machine is seeking an IT Systems Administrator to ensure the stability, security, and efficiency of our technology environment. This is a full on-site position in Maine, supporting multiple facilities both locally and remotely. As part of a small, collaborative IT team, you’ll have a hands-on role in managing infrastructure, providing user support, and helping the business and manufacturing operations run smoothly every day.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, firewalls, switches, scanners, security cameras, PBX phone systems, and mobile devices.
- Manage user accounts and software licenses, including provisioning and deprovisioning.
- Provide on-site and remote support for users across multiple facilities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Implement and manage security measures including access controls, remote access, backups, and firewall configuration.
- Conduct system backups, disaster recovery operations, and security assessments.
- Apply updates, patches, and fixes to servers, PCs, firewalls, and mobile devices.
- Translate technical issues into clear, user-friendly updates and recommendations.
- Research and recommend hardware and software improvements.
- Respond to occasional after-hours support needs.
- Must meet ITAR definition of US Person(s).
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in systems or network administration.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server/Desktop OS, Microsoft 365, VMware, and Veeam.
- Excellent communication skills—able to explain technical concepts in plain language.
- Proven problem-solving ability, especially under pressure.
- Attention to detail and strong time management skills.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. and work in tight spaces as needed.
Preferred
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ certifications (or equivalent).
- Experience with Fortinet and Ubiquiti.
- Experience with Microsoft GCC High and Epicor ERP.
- Experience with physical PBX phone systems.
