The Director of Applications and Solutions Architecture is responsible for overseeing the strategic design, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide application solutions. As part of an agile, multi-faceted mid-size company, the ideal candidate should expect to be hands-on in development, troubleshooting, and optimization efforts for a stable of websites, systems used for enterprise operation and able to manage developers with the ability to roll up your sleeves and help develop solutions. This role ensures that technology solutions align with business objectives, drive innovation, and optimize system performance.
Our Company separates IT services, this position WILL work with multiple web site development & design, data mining, internal systems related to the operations for our various resorts. This position is Not involved in database management, help desk, or security.
The Director collaborates with executive leadership, IT teams, and key business stakeholders to create scalable, secure, and high-performing application architectures that support the organization's growth and digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive application architecture strategy that aligns with the company’s business goals and technology roadmap.
- Hands-on Development: Actively contribute to application development, troubleshooting, and performance tuning as needed.
- Advanced Database Programming & Optimization: Design, develop, and optimize complex database solutions to ensure high performance, scalability, and security.
- Solution Design & Development: Oversee the design and development of application solutions, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and adhere to best practices.
- Technology Governance: Establish standards and guidelines for software development, integration, and application architecture to ensure consistency and maintainability.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of solution architects and application developers, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Work closely with business leaders, IT teams, and vendors to understand requirements and deliver solutions that enhance business operations and customer experience.
- Cloud & Digital Transformation: Drive the adoption of cloud-native solutions, microservices, and modern application development methodologies to improve agility and scalability.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure that all applications and solutions comply with industry security standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize application performance, ensuring high availability and reliability of critical systems.
- Emerging Technologies & Innovation: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to recommend and implement cutting-edge solutions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in application development, solution architecture, or enterprise architecture.
- 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Expertise in modern application architectures, including cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, APIs, and containerization.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps) and CI/CD practices.
- Expertise in advanced database programming, including SQL optimization, indexing, query tuning, and performance diagnostics.
- Experience with enterprise integration patterns, middleware, and API management.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor technical teams while driving strategic initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in managing vendor relationships and technology partnerships.
- Strongly desired: Experience with development and management of hospitality and vacation membership technology solutions.
- Helpful to have: Experience working with SPI and TimeShareWare systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
- Knowledge of data architecture, AI/ML integration, and emerging tech trends.
