Infrastructure is seeking a highly skilled database engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving our non-IT managed database systems, ensuring their performance, security, and reliability. This new team member should be well versed in all aspects of Software Development Life Cycle concepts with experience with Software Development methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, and Scrum. This team member will be focused on Requirements Analysis, End User Testing, and Reverse Engineering business rules from applications not maintained by IT. This team member will also assist end users with Asset Management Analytics and Performance Measures (metrics reporting).
Additional responsibilities include supporting current software applications by managing Software Quality Assurance documentation, working with end users to ensure licenses are optimized and maintained, installing updates, and helping the end users understand security requirements.
Data Management, Development and Reporting
- COTS solutions for specialized applications
- Custom software solutions (non-IT managed) – primarily using Microsoft SQL Server, Access, Excel and Tableau
- Maintain and generate queries for reporting purposes (currently maintained in local SQL Server tables)
- Maintain and generate snapshot data for historical reporting purposes
- Modernize existing applications using software project management methodologies
- Develop software requirements and user stories
- Develop return on investment metrics
- Perform data analysis and reporting
- Serve as the principle interface between developers, users, and managers

- Bachelor's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a database administrator/engineer..
- OR Master's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- OR PhD in engineering/science/information technology discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to work with end users to establish requirements and IT partners to deliver software tools
- Position requires proficiency using Microsoft Access, SQL server, SAP Plant Maintenance Module, and maintaining databases. Five years relevant experience is desirable. Skilled in oral and written communication with the demonstrated skill to present viable solutions to management and work in a team-based environment.
- Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and solving problems and attention to detail. Knowledgeable of current industry and technical developments.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
