Role Overview:

LivTech is looking to expand its core data capabilities. Reporting directly to our corporate CTO, you will manage and optimize the databases that power our most critical applications while architecting the central data warehouse that unifies information from across all our brands. Your work will ensure performance, scalability, and reliability at the foundation of our healthcare technology ecosystem. From advising development teams on complex queries to designing resilient data platforms, this role will be central to how LivTech delivers actionable insights and seamless integrations across home care, residential, and physician practice solutions. You’ll be trusted to work independently, collaborate across teams, and bring expertise in PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, and beyond to keep our systems running at their best.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, operate, and tune PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and MySQL for availability, performance, and security across mission-critical apps.
  • Architect and evolve the central data warehouse; define dimensional models and ingestion patterns that unify data across brands.
  • Review and optimize schemas, indexes, and queries, coach product teams on SQL best practices and efficient access patterns.
  • Implement HA/DR (backups, replication, point-in-time restore), capacity planning, and cost optimization for cloud DBs (e.g., RDS/Aurora/Azure SQL).
  • Build observability for databases (health checks, slow query logging, locking/bloat monitoring) and drive root-cause analysis with clear postmortems.
  • Establish governed DB change management (migrations, version control, CI/CD) with guardrails for safe, low-downtime releases.
  • Enforce data security and compliance for PHI/PII (least-privilege access, encryption, auditing, and row-level controls where appropriate).
  • Partner with analytics/AI teams to provision performant datasets and reliable pipelines into the warehouse.

Qualifications:

  • Analytical mindset with a focus on system performance and reliability.
  • Proactive and autonomous: capable of identifying problems and proposing solutions.
  • Collaborative team player, comfortable working across engineering, product, and data teams.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn new database technologies as needed.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability for mission-critical systems.
  • Ability to balance immediate operational needs with long-term architectural improvements
  • Proven hands-on experience with at least one major relational database system (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MySQL).
  • Strong SQL skills, including query optimization and performance tuning.
  • Experience with database schema design and optimization.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues in production environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with multiple database technologies (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, or others such as Oracle, MongoDB).
  • Familiarity with cloud-native database solutions (AWS RDS, Aurora, Azure SQL)
  • Hands-on experience with data warehouse design and dimensional modeling.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages or ETL tools for automation.
  • Exposure to MLOps or analytics environments (supporting data science teams).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for database changes.
