Job description
Wilson & Company is seeking a dynamic and experienced Public Involvement Project Manager to lead and grow our Public Involvement Program. This role will focus on delivering inclusive, transparent, and impactful engagement strategies for infrastructure, transportation, environmental, and planning projects. The successful candidate will help strengthen client relationships and elevate the quality of public engagement across the practice.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development & Strategy
- Develop tailored Public Involvement Plans and messaging strategies aligned with client goals and regulatory requirements (NEPA, local/state).
- Incorporate accessibility and multilingual outreach into engagement efforts.
- Identify staffing needs and engagement opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
Engagement Execution
- Lead in-person engagement activities such as open houses, workshops, town halls, pop-up events.
- Manage digital engagement tools including Social Pinpoint, websites, virtual meetings, surveys, and social media.
- Coordinate print and broadcast outreach including newsletters, press releases, radio spots, and media interviews.
Technology & Tools
- Select and implement appropriate engagement tools based on project scope and budget.
- Utilize GIS-based mapping tools and Adobe Creative Suite for interactive and branded materials.
Stakeholder & Community Relations
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, local governments, nonprofits, schools, and advocacy groups.
- Host co-branded events and leverage existing community networks to enhance outreach.
Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Monitor engagement metrics such as attendance, feedback volume, sentiment analysis.
- Prepare post-event summaries, dashboards, and project summary sheets.
- Implement continuous improvement through feedback loops.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in public involvement, community engagement, or related fields.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Familiarity with NEPA and local/state engagement regulations.
- Proficiency in digital engagement platforms and creative tools.
- IAP2 Certification (or willingness to obtain within first year).
Salary Range: $90,000- $110,000 (Depending on Experience)
