JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective
The IT Systems Engineer collaborates with all departments to design, develop, and implement client-specific computer systems that meet organizational needs. This position is responsible for diagnosing hardware and software issues, providing technical support, and maintaining existing systems to optimize manufacturing processes.

A comprehensive understanding of system integration, testing, evaluation, and modification is essential. The role requires strong knowledge of IT networks and infrastructure, including experience with VLANs and subnetting. Proficiency in Oracle and SQL development, particularly for data retrieval and database connectivity, is required. Experience with software and hardware setup for SQL Server, Oracle Server, and PLC programming is preferred but not mandatory.

The IT Systems Engineer will also contribute to a work environment where fairness, equality, and non-discriminatory practices are the standard.

Essential Functions

  • Design, develop, monitor, and maintain production networks, including VLANs and PLC connections to databases
  • Document all software and network infrastructure changes as requested by the IT Manager
  • Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, and switches
  • Ensure network connectivity for all servers, shared software, VMware, and other applications
  • Analyze customer requirements to produce labels as needed
  • Maintain reliable network connectivity across the company’s LAN/WAN infrastructure, adhering to technical standards
  • Collaborate independently with the Maintenance team and machine builders to integrate new and existing equipment into the live production environment
  • Support, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with software running on manufacturing equipment; provide after-hours support as necessary
  • Obtain vendor quotes and place orders for IT Department equipment and services as needed
  • Configure authentication and authorization for directory services
  • Maintain network production servers, including managing RDP sessions, licensing, and intrusion detection systems
  • Provide installation and support for computer systems at other company facilities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems reported by end users
  • Set up and maintain computers connected to the manufacturing network
  • Install and maintain networking hardware and networked devices such as switches, printers, scales, and barcode scanners
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This position operates primarily in an office and manufacturing environment. The role routinely involves the use of standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

While performing job duties, the incumbent may frequently be exposed to moving mechanical parts within the manufacturing area. The noise level in the manufacturing environment is typically moderate.

While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently stands, walks, uses hands to grasp small objects, handles materials, feels, and reaches with hands and arms.

The employee may occasionally be required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. They must frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 10lbs and occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 25lbs. This position also requires specific visual abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required based on business needs.

Travel
Travel is expected for this position up to 25%. Travel is primarily local during the business day; however, occasional out-of-town and overnight travel may be required based on business needs.

Required Education and Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)

2. Over two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, including systems administration, network management, and cybersecurity

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Strong background in Oracle and SQL databases, as well as PLC programming

2. Comprehensive knowledge of local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), including computer hardware, software, and network infrastructure

3. In-depth experience managing and troubleshooting network environments

4. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems (Win7/10/11, Server 2008/2012/2016/2019)

5. Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (versions 2008 R2 through 2016)

6. Experience supporting ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Office 365 environments.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

1. Must possess valid documentation authorizing employment in the United States

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
