Job Description
SUMMARY:
Responsible for measuring and mapping land, water, and airspace to determine property boundaries, construction sites, and other important features using specialized equipment and technology to collect data, analyze it to create detailed reports and maps. Works closely with engineers, architects, and construction teams to ensure accurate and precise measurements for various projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates and schedules project assignments based on facility capabilities and capacity.
- Confirms and plans projects based on client statement of work.
- Performs data collection using surveying instruments/equipment, GPS, etc.
- Analyses samples in the field including, but not limited to pH, combustible gas index readings, and flow readings.
- Take digital photos of projects while onsite and files with project.
- Prepares and reviews survey plans, legal descriptions, exhibits, and other documents that may be required by clients, Pace staff, and/or regulatory agencies.
- Ensures all surveys comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards as applicable.
- Follows all quality control measures to verify the accuracy and completeness of survey data.
- Tracks and maintains organized and detailed records of project documents, field information, and notes, as well as survey computations.
- Provides excellent communication with clients, staff, and agencies as to project scope, budget, and time frame to promote exceptional service and professionalism.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
- Promotes and supports the overall mission of Pace by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with customers and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in Engineering, Architecture, Surveying, GIS or Environmental Services and two (2) years of experience in field surveying; or equivalent experience, education, training.
Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Required Knowledge:
- Principles and practice of geometric, topographic, or boundary surveying.
- Computer applications and systems related to the work, such as AutoCAD and ArcMap.
- Applicable industry laws, codes, and regulations.
- Surveying equipment related to the job such as GNNS receivers, Trimble data collectors, Trimble handheld GPS, Sokkia total stations, Carlson data collection, robotic total station
- Principles and techniques of using traversing and GPS control networks
Required Skills:
- Serving as a team member working with customers and projects.
- Training others in policies and procedures related to the work.
- Maintaining accurate records and files.
- Carrying assigned analytical projects through, from data collection to report generation.
- Providing consulting services to supervisors and managers.
- Preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of individuals contacted in the course of the work.

Mobility to safely operate a motor vehicle and exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects; walk up to five (5) miles per day; vision to read printed materials and computer screens; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed outside and in office settings. Work is subject to travel and weather conditions. Exposure to chemicals, fumes, gases, noxious odors and related items in a lab and environmental setting.
