Job Title: Backend Developer

Reports To: VP of Engineering

Compensation: starting at $90,000 and is dependent on experience and qualifications

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Backend Developer to join our dynamic development team. This position is ideal for candidates with 2 or more years of professional experience and a strong foundation in modern backend development. As a Backend Developer, you will work closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and DevOps teams to design, build, and maintain scalable and high-performance server-side applications that power our digital solutions.

Core Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance backend services and APIs using Node.js, Python, Java, or similar technologies.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints to support frontend and mobile applications.
• Optimize server-side performance, scalability, and security.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure seamless integration between backend and frontend components.
• Work with databases (SQL and NoSQL) to manage, store, and retrieve application data efficiently.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and data protection best practices.
• Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code following best practices.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve backend issues to ensure system reliability.

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to a high-quality development environment.
• Stay updated on emerging backend technologies and industry trends.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 2+ years of professional experience in backend development.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js, Python, Java, or other backend programming languages.
• Experience with database management systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar).
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with Git and version control workflows.
• Understanding of backend security best practices and authentication protocols (OAuth, JWT).
• Bonus: Familiarity with TypeScript, Redis, RabbitMQ, or serverless computing.
